During my younger years my model, idol for management was Japanese company for values, marketing, operations (quality, tpm, kaizen) employee relations. And one of the top companies was National founded by Konosuke Matsuhita, who failure after failures established National and Panasonic. They expanded worldwide. Matsushita failed in his initial new product launches. But these were important lessons to him.
After his death, Panasonic also seemed to die. For 25 years, they had no new product launch and have forgotten marketing These were impt tenets from the founder: innovation and marketing (products dont sell themselves. Panasonic senior executives do not seem to have learned from their mistakes. They are not missionaries but are employees enjoying jobs and that is too bad for Panasonic and Matsuhita.
And very soon Japanese economic landscapes can be full of lessons in failures and how to benefit from them.
